All our private tutors are highly skilled, experienced and qualified in their respective subject areas, hand-picked from a range of high performing public and private schools. We typically only employ teachers with a proven track record in formal teaching and a significant number of years of teaching experience behind them. Most of our private tutors currently hold additional responsibility roles within their schools and have various teaching accolades and awards to their names. We prefer not to use NQT (newly qualified teachers) to tutor students privately, simply as they tend not to possess the wealth of teaching experience we prefer, in order to keep our teaching standards exceptionally high.

SUBJECTS AND LEVELS

We cover the core subjects – English, Maths and Science – from primary level all the way up to A-Level. We provide both group and one-to-one private tuition preparing students for the 11 plus exam, which covers core subjects as well as verbal and non-verbal reasoning (problem solving).

For GCSE and A-Level courses, we cover Business Studies, Media Studies and Sociology in addition to core subjects. We can also provide private classes for students who are learning English as a second language, for example students from the Far East (Japan, China etc). CLASS SCHEDULES

Our affordable and flexible classes are usually held on weekends and in school holidays in order to fit in with the busy schedules of parents and children. Choose from weekly classes or more intensive week-long courses which are available in group or one-to-one settings. Each class is taught by a private tutor with an experienced teaching assistant for additional support at a location in North Finchley. Our experienced private tutors create a calm, safe, nurturing environment designed to help students learn in a fun and interactive manner. Held in groups of no more than 6, we believe our supplementary educational classes will complement the school curriculum and enable students to become the best version of themselves they can possibly be. As well as getting to grips with academic subjects, our classes have proven to build students’ confidence, hone exam technique and fully prepare them for a bright future.

ABOUT

North Finchley Tutors was founded in 2017 and is a collaboration between “10 second Maths” expert, Mr Philip Chan and English extraordinaire, Amber Khan. After decades of teaching and examining, Chan and Khan realised that teaching within the traditional school system was stifling student creativity, rather than developing a love of learning. This was the starting point of the company. Together, they formed a syllabus – shaped by years of experience – which successfully teaches the skills required to pass examinations but in a personal, accessible and engaging way. The sessions are lead by a team of hand picked, fully qualified and subject specialist tutors. All tutors are currently teaching in UK state and private schools and are DBS checked.
